New page

(WIP)

I have seen many players ask about gas power and be met with "idk I only use solar", so here's a brief overview of getting a gas power set up working.

Note: for now this guide is not meant to explain how to optimize and compact set ups, rather basic functioning.

The General Loop
The main thing you need to understand for gas power systems is the loop between the gas collectors and the gas power plant(s).

This loop consists of (in it's most basic form)

2 gas collectors and

1 gas power plant

where 1 collector produces a fuel gas (Hydrogen, Nitrogen, or Methane) and 1 produces an oxidizer gas (Oxygen, Chlorine, or Fluorine). These gases get sent to the gas power plant's furnace via pipes. The gas power plant then outputs empty gas canisters which we send back to the gas collectors, once again using pipes.

Things to watch out for / tips
The system is simple enough, and there's only a few suggestions and things to be careful of when creating your own loop.

THE GAS COLLECTORS REQUIRE A PRISMARINE CRYSTAL IN THE TOP SLOT, IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, THE EMPTY GAS CANISTERS WILL GO TO THE TOP SLOT OF YOUR COLLECTORS, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN, AND YOU WILL HAVE TO REMOVE THEM ALL BY HAND. This isn't a very big deal on a singular set up like the one displayed above, but once you make bigger productions it can become tedious quite quickly.
Happy! !! Sad...
||
The empty gas canister goes to the bottom slot and starts getting filled with the selected gas || The empty gas canister goes to the top slot, nothing happens, and you have to deal with it :(

Gas collection used to work differently where different planets had different percentages of different gasses and you only had a certain chance of actually collecting them yada yada yada. Now, there isn't much reason to use any oxidizer other than fluorine. It will give you more energy output per cycle.

You need to make sure to put enough gas canisters into your loop. If you don't, it will eventually clog with just the oxidizer or fuel, and power production will stop.

Eventually you're going to run into a problem, and its useful to have gas vents on site with a simple input and output chest set up. You don't want to be manually putting in and pulling out every canister.

There are 2 ways to create large scale gas power set ups, either have a whole bunch of mini set ups (similar to the one in the first image), or have 1 massive gas collection area and 1 massive gas power plant area. There are arguments for both, do whatever you want.
