The blast resistance of blocks affects the amount of damage that shields take.

Trade ships can mount sticky pistons up to 0.015 * block count
or sqrt(block count)
, whichever value is smaller. The switch occurs for ships around 4444 blocks.
Warships can mount half as many sticky pistons as a trade ship of the same size.
