= History =
===Early Days===
The Ilios Alliance was originally proposed by [[scar_litty]] and [[_omni]], then diplomatic leaders of [[Shadow]] and [[Orovika]] respectively, to [[yodabird19]], President of [[Cortesia Del Mar]], as a tripartite alliance between the three states. The alliance was precipitated by existing individual direct alliances between all three founding member states, which had persisted since the February dissolution of the [[Horizon Federation]].

Following negotiations to determine the nature of the body, the Ilios Alliance was formally announced on April 23, 2024, as a pact with a goal of "deepening our relations, mutual defense, and advancing the prosperity of our nations". All members of the Ilios Alliance had formerly been members of the Horizon Federation, which led some to accuse it of simply being another iteration thereof; however the Alliance made efforts to distinguish itself from the Horizon Federation's legacy, chiefly by pointing out that the Alliance was founded in peacetime, and its existence was not dependent on the pursuit of conflict with an enemy state.

===Vask Authority Conflict===

On May 3 2024, the nation of [[Vask Authority]] was established by [[FellOffBridge]], replacing the former [[Andurian Federation]]. Vask Authority supported piracy among its members, leading to a steady decline in its relations with the Ilios Alliance, which consisted mostly of colonists and pro-colonist combatants (privateers). 

On June 10 2024, in response to a rapidly deteriorating situation with Vask Authority, the Ilios Alliance admitted the former Horizon Federation states of [[Imperial Nova]] and [[Arimfea]] as "associate" members - a limited status within the alliance created specifically for the pair of new members, who shared the Ilios Alliance's distaste for Vask Authority. The following day, an incident in [[Regulus]] between Vask Authority and Imperial Nova prompted the outbreak of war between Vask Authority and the Alliance, which continued until Vask Authority offered a white peace to the alliance on July 26.

===Radiance Revolution===
On July 3, the members of the nation of [[Shadow]], in response to controlling behavior from the largely-inactive in-game nation leader [[Ae0n]], seceded en masse from Shadow and established a replacement nation called [[Radiance]]. 

All members of the Ilios Alliance quickly responded by politically recognizing Radiance as the legitimate successor of Shadow and inheritor of its diplomatic relations, leading to the substitution of Radiance for Shadow in the Ilios Alliance's member list. The revolution also caused sudden instability and impoverishment to the members of Radiance, to which the Ilios Alliance responded with what yodabird19 described as a "Marshall Plan-like" support program, which rapidly re-established Radiance's industrial and military base.

===Long Peace===

Following the conclusion of the conflict with Vask Authority, the Ilios Alliance has returned to a peacetime bloc supporting its members internally. Several members of the Ilios Alliance have changed nations within the Alliance in this time, such as the settlement of [[Astolfo]] moving from Orovika to Radiance, or the player [[ItsAlreadyGold]] moving from Orovika to Cortesia Del Mar.

On October 27, [[Imperial Nova]] formally left the Ilios Alliance, stating that while there's "nothing wrong with them...now that the war is over it doesn't seem necessary". This exit was accepted by both sides, and the Alliance retains friendly relations with Imperial Nova.

=== Trivia ===
When the Ilios Alliance was founded, all three founding nations had major settlements in the [[Ilios System|Ilios system]]: [[Spatzyosa]] of Orovika on [[Damkoth]], [[Setra Maria]] of Cortesia Del Mar on [[Chimgara]], and [[ThievesHaven]] of Shadow on Chimgara. Setra Maria is now the only one that remains.
