History

Creation

Following the secession of Altar Sanctorium (then named "Haven") from Vortexion's Arimfea on 11 May 2024 - the city's third such removal, after Orovika and Imperial Nova in the preceding months - Blackular, the leader of Haven, Partnering with Avan_Brightearth, a veteran of StarLegacy's Ekatera, They named the nation "Ekatera" as an homage to the nation's legacy. The nation of Ekatera was founded on 5 June 2024.

Following Ekatera's creation, several Blackular-aligned members of Arimfea, most notably Voided_Crusader and Kiro231 (both on 10 June), would leave to join Ekatera. This event would ultimately lead to Vortexion and Cadia, and later Peregri, leaving Arimfea for Cortesia Del Mar, leaving Middosk ultimately in charge of Arimfea and producing the Arimfea-Ekatera Alliance.

Merger with VTF

On 10 June 2024, the two-month-old new-player nation of VTF, which had grown to considerable size under the leadership of Kingsheep3, would elect to merge with Ekatera. This merger would see three settlements - Ionizera, vyserian, and Van Aurela - join Ekatera, increasing the nation's size and prestige.

Ekateran Neutrality

Following Ekatera's establishment, the nation largely stayed on the sidelines of server politics for the rest of 2024, avoiding involvement in conflicts such as the Ilios Alliance-Vask Authority War. While victim to extensive piracy by various actors (such as z4nityy), Ekatera heavily centered itself its trade city of Altar Sanctorium, making most of the nation's members difficult to attack and thereby rendering the nation an unappealing combat target.

Ekateran Golden Age and Arimfean Aid

((Im not certain how to upload files?)) Ekatera was doing well enough that after discussion between the Primarchs it was agreed that Kiro231 would take over the leadership of Ekatera, leaving Blackular to the day to day of running Haven, While Avan_Brightearth and Kingsheep would temporaraly leave Ekatera to join Arimfea, Ekateras sister nation and longest closest ally, in order to help jump start recruitment drives and boost morale in the wake of Vortexions departure. With the agreement to return leadership to Avan_Brightearth upon return to Ekatera.

Vega-Ekatera War

On 5 January 2025, following an incident wherein Kiro231 impounded a Vegan ship found to belong belonging to LeMaire. After failed negotiations the nation of Vega declared war on Ekatera. In the days following this declaration, the nations of Lonestar and Radiance would declare varying states of conflict against Ekatera as well.

As the safezone of Altar Sanctorium, which depended on the settlement having 4 active players, largely prevented any proactive attacks on Ekaterans, offensive strategy during the war primarily centered on seeking to deprive Ekatera of active members; the combined diplomatic and military pressure of the anti-Ekateran coalition caused a large reduction in Ekatera's number of active members, primarily to these players leaving the nation and joining others. This effort was successful in causing the Altar Sanctorium safezone to be disabled due to insufficient member activity on a single occasion prior to the end of the war, on 29 January 2025.

Kiro231 declares an intent to become inactive.

The war functionally concluded with the secession of Altar Sanctorium from the nation on 3 February 2025, with Kiro231, the leader of the settlement, declaring that she was "going back to activity logging" (IE, she would not be actively playing the server henceforth). As Altar Sanctorium was previously Ekatera's primary industrial and activity base, this secession left Ekatera a very small nation.

As of February 8th, Altar Sanctorium was re-added as Ekatera’s capital.
