Solar panels generate power when exposed to sunlight, or when inverted in worlds without sunlight.
Solar panels produce 5 power per second when the daylight detector is in day (blue) mode, when exposed to the sky during the day. This also currently works in space as of September 2026 due to day/night cycling.
When the daylight detector is in inverted (green) mode, solar panels produce a constant 2 power per second in nether/end worlds at all times.
Power is extracted from the crafting table. Note that whether the daylight detector is inverted or not, it must be exposed to the sky (or through glass) to generate power.
