Gas Collector
Properties
Gas collected (per collection attempt) 50
Collection time (ticks) 10
Resource Requirements
Furnace 1
Hopper 1
Lightning Rod 1-4
Sign (any type) 1

Gas collectors fill empty Gas Canisters with various gases.
Gas collectors can be detected with the sign text [gascollector].

Gas collectors will attempt to collect gas every 10 ticks. It will succeed if:

  • The gas type selected through the gui (accessible through right clicking the sign) is available on your planet / in your region.
  • There is a gas canister in the fuel slot of the furnace
  • The gas canister is empty or is the same as the selected gas type

If these conditions are met, and the gas collector is in tact, it will fill the gas canister up with 50 units before repeating the cycle in another 10 ticks.

As of now, the amount of lightning rods, or even their presence at all, has no effect on gas collection.

Gas collectors can work without putting a Prismarine Crystal in the top slot, however they are necessary to load empty canisters in with pipes. Empty gas canisters must be placed in the bottom slot.

Right clicking the sign will list the gasses that are available for collection in its location.

History

Gas collectors use to behave very differently.
Gas collectors would attempt to collect gas once between every 100 to 350 ticks. Each lightning rod attached to a collector would increase the number of times it attempted to collect during this tick by one, up to a maximum of four times.
Every time the gas collector would tick, it generated 150 gas, and its type would be based on the current planet's gas chance, the y-level gas chance, and the amount of lightning rods on the collector.
