Combat Tagging is a mechanic on Horizon's End.

Mechanics

There are two types of combat tags, PVP combat tag, and NPC combat tag.

Your current combat tag, as well as the time remaining can be seen on the scoreboard. NPC combat tag shows the time in orange text, PVP combat tag shows the time remaining in red text.

Triggering

NPC combat tag is triggered whenever your ship is hit by a shot from an NPC, or whenever you shoot an NPC ship.

Being shot by someone from a nation with neutral or lower relation with your nation.

Being shot by someone unaffiliated with a nation.

Being in proximity of an enemy ship while on foot.

Limitations

Combat tag prevents entering safezones with a warship. Civilian ships such as freighters can enter safezones while tagged. If your civilian ship enters a safezone while combat tagged, it can no longer take damage from other ships while in the safezone. (PVP tag only)

While in a safezone, you can be attacked on foot by other players while combat tagged. (PVP tag only)

Combat tag disables the use of ship drills, decomposers, and ship factories.

Combat tag prevents releasing ships, if you try to release a ship while combat tagged, the ship will instead unpilot.

While combat tagged, you cannot enter or exit planets more than once every 2 minutes. (PVP tag only)

Combat tag prevents the use of /suicide.

Combat tag prevents creating new space stations.

Exiting combat tag

combat tag can be lost by:

Letting the time run down without being shot or proximity tagged by an enemy for the entire time.

Dying.
