The Basic Probe Launcher is a version of the probe launcher available on certain Tech 1 ships, specifically, the Transport, Light Freighter, Medium Freighter and Heavy Freighter. This one is built with a a note block next to a sponge, then a dispenser in front of the note block and a grindstone in front of the sponge, followd by two end rods protuding from the grindstone (image to come later). This probe launcher can only use Scanner Probes, which cost a gold nugget and an iron nugget to craft.

The Advanced Probe Launcher gets additional combat capabilities in addition to the basic scanning abilities of the Basic Probe Launcher. The Advanced Probe Launcher can fire off Combat Probes in addition to being able to fire off Scanner Probes. There is a small list of ships it can be fit on, currently used on the T1 Barge, and the T2 Scrambler, Recon Fighter, Black Ops Frigate, Missile Cruiser, and the Industrial Command ship.

The first thing you need to know about using the probe multiblock, is that the multiblock itself launches probes which are a type of Ammo. This means that your starship will need to be equipped with a magazine. Additionally, the launcher counts as a heavy weapon, and as such if you have any other heavy weapon on the ship (if possible), you will need nodes. To launch probes, once loaded into the magazine on an active ship, you simple use it like any other heavy weapon, by holding right click. From there after a short delay you will get info on  Cosmic Signatures within a 7500(Recon)/5000 block radius in the system you're in using Scanner Probes, and other starships in the same radius if using Combat Probes.

The probes are a stackable item and must be loaded into a starship magazine to be useable.
NOTE: Fires from the dispenser not the End Rods (think of the end rod as the antenna and the dispenser as the actual launcher). This means the dispenser must have a clear line of sight in the same way other weapons do to fire (at most one block directly in front of it).

Using The Probe Launcher

NOTE: Fires from the dispenser not the End Rods (think of the end rod as the antenna and the dispenser as the actual launcher). This means the dispenser must have a clear line of sight in the same way other weapons do to fire (at most one block directly in front of it).
