The Battle of OQ-04 was a major engagement in the Lonestar-Vega War fought between Vega and its allies and Lonestar and its allies. It marked the first time a Tech-2 Supercapital Starship was deployed in real combat, and included the largest fleet (12 Vegan players, totalling 145,000 blocks) to ever be deployed on Horizon's End to date. A combination of Supercapital starships being used in Direct control and the sheer amount of ships in combat led to the server's TPS being perpetually locked at 9 for the duration of the battle.
In the leadup to this battle, a bug related to the dissolution of the Fortuna Sequence led to four of the six Regional Objectives despawning, leaving only the two in the Axis system. Lonestar had amassed a fleet of eleven people, and sieged the stations without resistance from Vega. Afterwards, looking for a fight (and to get use out of their mobilized fleet), they moved to the OQ-04 System. There, they sat in wait for approximately thirty minutes as Vega mobilized their own forces. ShadowProXX3000 was a late arrival, Tagging the entire Vegan fleet with an Assault Corvette. This, as Eyrzeke later noted, would have allowed Lonestar to release before the battle and leave without any losses. However, in a show of great sportsmanship, Lonestar stayed piloted in OQ-04 as the Vegan forces arrived.
As Lonestar had so many combatants on, Vega was expecting multiple Tech-1 Battlecruisers (from their pre-Dominion stockpile) to be mobilized. Because of this, they prepared a Supercapital fleet. The combination of a Lancer, Logistics Cruiser, and Cruiser, supported with multiple Assault Ships to deal chip damage against Supercapital opponents, was hand-picked for damaging and destroying fleets relying heavily on the bulk and DPS of Battlecruisers.
