The Amph is a cargo transport purchasable from a Ship Dealer.

Transports are the second tier of Trade Ship Types. Compared to their Gunship counterparts, which are dedicated to combat, Transports are capable of carrying more containers, more cargo, and mining lasers.

The features of this tier are:

  • Standard size between 1,000 and 2,000 blocks
  • Can mount a point defense turret above small sizes
  • Can hold a maximum of 29-30 Crates at max size
  • Jump range of 18,000 blocks(?)

Tips

When building a cargo transport, a 2,000 block maximum size is able to accommodate 30 cargo crates. Since the crates count as blocks once loaded, this must be accounted for in the hull’s design.

Try to aim for:

  • Minimum of 600 concrete blocks
  • Be 1970 blocks when empty (2,000 total - 30 crates)
  • Tier 2 hyperdrive and basic nav computer
  • Shields could be either a 2.0 or up to two 0.8’s (the latter is ideal)

Optionally, you can add:

  • Tier 3 hyperdrive
  • Advanced nav computer
  • Tier 2 mining laser (this requires power generation capabilities either in the ship or on a friendly base)
  • Multiple chests for item storage
  • Defensive weaponry like plasma cannons, point defense turrets, and heavy lasers
  • Box shield systems
  • Power machines, like item chargers
