Destroyers are like Frigates but larger and more powerful. They are generally used less for all-round SvS, and are more often used as area-denying craft. Usually destroyers will be at least 9,702 blocks in order to fire four Heavy Turrets at once rather than just three, while the largest destroyers are iconic for their incredible tankiness and staying power.
Destroyers are countered by Battlecruisers and are evenly matched by Cruisers. Destroyers are a counter to Frigates.
