Light Gunships are a subclass of Gunships whose small size, fast speed, and ability to fire Pulse Cannons and Heavy Lasers give them the ability to intercept and destroy smaller ships.
Light Gunships are countered by full-size Gunships and Corvettes. They are a counter to Starfighters and Scramblers. Light Gunships are also well suited for bogging down capital ships, similarly to the Tackle Gunship.
History
Light Gunships began to see increased usage following the addition of Interceptors in February 2025. Once Dominion released, they fell off in usage, as Assault Gunships filled similar niches due to their 10% speed boost and homing Neutralizers.
