Frigates are a highly versatile ship class with very consistent DPS. They are good generalized starships for shooting targets big and small.
History
During the very beginning of the server, few nations ever had frigates. Nowadays they are a staple of any nation's fleet.
Subclasses
Micro Frigate, usually 4,000 Blocks. Trades the pulse cannons of Corvettes to fire Triple Turrets faster; could have a niche as a sentry turret subclass.
Light Frigate "4.9k", usually 4,893-4,899 Blocks. Equipped with phasers; ideal for kiting tactics against large, slow opponents.
Attack Frigate "6.5k", usually 6,500 Blocks. Specialized craft that can employ Heavy Turrets and Phasers alike to eliminate enemies.
Heavy Frigate "8k", usually 8,000 Blocks. Hefty capital ships that utilize their enhanced shields to defend crucial components.
