Light Frigates are a subclass of Frigates which occupy a unique niche, set apart from both similarly-sizedCorvettes and larger Frigates. They are fast platforms that are large enough to use phasers, and they usually have a front bridge to most effecitvely utilize their Plasma Cannon primary weapons; however, they're smaller than their Attack Frigate and Heavy Frigate cousins to dodge enemy capital ship attacks. Light frigates are primarily tuned to counter large capital ships like Destroyers, being able to hit-and-run and whittle down slower targets; they are, unlike most ship classes, not particularly good at "punching down" to eliminate targets immediately smaller than themselves.
