Light Gunships are a subclass of Gunships whose small size, fast speed, and ability to fire Pulse Cannons and Heavy Lasers gives them the ability to intercept and destroy smaller ships. Their inability to use Light Turrets reduces their combat effectiveness against smaller ships compared to full size gunships.
Light Gunships are countered by full size Gunships and Corvettes. They are a counter to Interceptors, Starfighters, and Tackle Gunships. Light Gunships are also well suited for bogging down capital ships, similarly to the Tackle Gunship.
