VEGA Security, more commonly referred to as Vega or VEGA and also the Vega Empire, is one of the oldest and most powerful nations on Horizon's End, widely considered a major power or even the server hegemon since the launch of the server in 2022 (when it was called Echelon).
VEGA prides itself on its military prowess and on being home to the largest collection of server veterans (especially combatants), as well as being a close friend group outside of the server.
As of August 21, 2026, Vega is the first and only nation to sink ships using both combat-focused Large-Reactor ships: they sunk a ship with a Lancer first, then a Missile Cruiser.
History
Founding
VEGA was founded on Star Legacy in 2019 as a weapons corporation consisting of veteran players from Arimfea and Oblivion. It was well known for defeating the then-dominant Andromedan Republic in two consecutive wars. Many of the old VEGA players joined Horizon's End but initially decided not to recreate their nation, opting to form Echelon instead. On the 4th of January this nation was renamed to VEGA.
Cheth Wars
AR-Vega War
HF-RDY War
IA-VA War Involvement
Vega gave limited material support to the Vask Authority during the war, and provided direct military support during the Battle of Asteri.
Vega-Ekatera War
Vega-Nova War (2025)
Solar War (2025)
The Solar War was roughly when Vega stopped being considered the reigning server hegemon. They have remained exceptionally powerful, but their influence on the server is now contested by rivals such as lonestar since the war and the Dominion Update.
Post Dominion Update (2026)
Most of the original VEGA veterans had disappeared several years after the server's founding, most notably Vandrayk. He was the effective leader of VEGA up to his banishment from the server, which has since been appealed and overturned. After the start of the Long Peace VEGA mostly remained isolationist, usually only intervening when provoked.
After the Dominion update, several of these veterans returned to experience new combat mechanics, such as new Tech 2 warships. Their main opponent since then has generally been lonestar, although independent Vegan players occasionally pirate players foolish enough to venture into deep space with their transponder on.

Internal Politics
VEGA internal operations are an enigma to most, as their discord access is highly limited for even citizens. VEGA's organisational structure is the Operations Division, beginning with the Director(s) at the top and going down to the Operatives at the bottom. Citizens are not part of this structure, and usually not considered 'true VEGA' by most. Since Vandrayk's departure the role of the Emperor has largely become symbolic, with VEGA functioning more as an oligarchic regime rather than an autocratic one. VEGA's operations division also extends beyond their nation, as many of their operatives are part of others. Whether these are actual agents of VEGA is disputed and likely varies from case to case.
